And had you gone to the clothing-optional side of the beach, you would have seen the same things: families, men and women enjoying the freedom to be as God made us in the beginning. jochanaanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14143066702059757955noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-765131605117229273.post-77045489102951178592014-07-31T22:13:41.720-07:002014-07-31T22:13:41.720-07:00This post touched a place so deep in my soul that ...This post touched a place so deep in my soul that I hesitated to share the post because the simple act of commenting or sharing felt like laying my bare my heart. I have, however, savored this in my own quietness over and over again. This was beautifully written. Your words have given me reason to pause, ponder, ache, and heal all at the same time. Thank you.Dawnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05886626878002819010noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-765131605117229273.post-91638341215759888772014-07-28T06:43:26.648-07:002014-07-28T06:43:26.648-07:00Wow, God's timing is perfect. The timing is perfect because, two days ago my family went to our local Renaissance Fair. I have three girls ages 14, 13, and 9 and one son age 11. Modesty was definitely on our minds as we wandered around the fair and couldn't help but notice the costumes (and the things popping out of them).

Thanks for sharing this perspective. I've always been taught that I need to consider mens reactions when I dress. No wonder I have such a poor body image, with shame being my main feeling of my body. This view of myself has negatively impacted my marriage. I pray that God will do a deep work in my heart to remove the false ideas I've believed for far too long.
I will continue to dress modestly, but I hope to change my reasoning behind that choice. I can't wait to share this post with my husband and all of my children.

Thanks Jill for pointing me to the truth. I think the older girls just might receive a research project this year to study modesty in the Bible.Kara Howellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09616250342064362394noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-765131605117229273.post-12027316691598427622014-06-30T13:06:16.948-07:002014-06-30T13:06:16.948-07:00Thanks Aiysha. Yes, we get it all backward when we impose "the rules" and forget that all we do should flow from relationship with God, not a list of rules. That's the way he created it to be.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03774267389873705088noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-765131605117229273.post-81976285078098533802014-06-28T04:21:40.286-07:002014-06-28T04:21:40.286-07:00This is absolutely beautiful and it is the same th...This is absolutely beautiful and it is the same thing I've argued for a fair few years. As a "visual" woman, I can say that the temptation and lust comes just as easily to a woman as to a man but there is the blessing of free will and choosing to look away. No one, male or female ever "asks" to be raped and I think it is an awful position for anyone to take. There is no excuse.

As for shame, that only entered the world through the devil and our disobedience to God. We have no right to be ashamed of what God so carefully created. Our desire to dress modestly should come from our hearts as a reflection of what He has put in us, not as an enforcement from "Church folk" in the outside world...Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02553984609816959383noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-765131605117229273.post-78838070230790964102014-06-27T17:03:45.632-07:002014-06-27T17:03:45.632-07:00Thank you, Sarah. Thank you for writing a point of view I've never seen before. I can't even imagine making the adjustment to a world where women wore even less than now. But you have pointed truly to the reality that I need to own my own response to the reality around me, regardless of the intent of others in that reality.Randy Kirkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07187149342560881341noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-765131605117229273.post-16697050352200565792014-06-27T06:28:40.933-07:002014-06-27T06:28:40.933-07:00Excellent analysis and sensible approach to clothi...Excellent analysis and sensible approach to clothing, responsibility and grace between men and women.
